You're reading too much in to a joke.

Yes, the CSeries was designed by Bombardier and AC's 223s were all assembled at YMX, but Airbus is a European company, and you see, European cars are known for having worse cupholders than American ones.

If you really want to deconstruct this, the seats don't even have any cupholders, so the whole thing really falls apart. Although the seats may be designed or built in Europe even if the aircraft final assembly line isn't there, so maybe I can win some points back for that if they are...
