Found the answer to this - Avios are based on the ticketed/numbered flight not operated flight if both are oneworld. Which is good news as AA is higher on the same route for some reason.

Overall as a family of 4 (2 silver and 2 gold) we should net 255k Avios under the distance and cabin rules vs what we would earn via new spend based rules of c50k Avios!!
