Hi FTers, I am after some general advice over a situation I currently find myself in and am feeling a mixture of anger, frustration and disappointment. I will try to keep it concise but bear with me:
- 27th Feb I called up just before midnight to make a companion voucher booking on a popular route at T-355 days. I thought I had called the gold line but as it connected I realised I had dialled the wrong number and had been connected to the Delhi call centre but the call was answered promptly and the agent seemed to know what I wanted to do so I was content.
- I gave him the date I wanted (16th Feb 25) and after an anxious wait as the clock ticked past midnight he came back on the line to say he had got the seats and we went through he payment process. I was overjoyed at securing the seats! Just after the call ended I got the confirmation e-mail through and to my horror I noticed the date was for 28th Feb 24 - i.e. a same day booking and nowhere near what I had asked for.
- I called back immediately but surprise, surprise I was told their was nothing they could do and suggest I called the Gold Line which I did.
- The Gold Line said that they thought Delhi had just fobbed me off to them and all they could do was put a freeze on the booking so I wouldn't be listed as a no show and that they would e-mail the Delhi office.
- I spoke to the BA Gold Line (UK) during the day yesterday and they confirmed that the booking had been frozen and was pending an investigation in the Delhi office (while they reviewed the voice recording of my booking with the agent) but that could take up to 72 hours.
- I have a very short travel window and so cannot wait this long but was told that if I called back up at midnight last night they might be able to do an amendment to the booking in the system. I was a little dubious at this point as this would be after the flight would have departed but I did just that and low and behold was told that the booking had been cancelled and remained under investigation.
So, I now find myself a companion voucher, 90,000 Avios and £450 lighter than I was 2 days go with a booking under investigation which I presume will only be to determine if I get all of that back but the real kicker is that I do not have an option to try and grab reward seats at the T-355 day point until that investigation completes and I (hopefully) get my voucher back. That may be all too late as the latest I can depart for the planned trip is 19 Feb 25 meaning I need to be on the phone trying again to snare reward seats either tonight or tomorrow night.
I am certain that the agent didn't read back the dates to me that he had booked while I was on the phone and I should have asked before making the payment but I was honestly so happy to have secured them in the first place that I think I just wanted to finish the process and go to bed! Anything else I could do, should have done or can still do to rectify this situation?
