There is no process. You just park the car and go. 1:45 at KOA is more than enough time. The shuttle ride is only five minutes.

If you have a significant amount of luggage, it may well be more convenient to drop everyone off at check-in before returning the car. Schlepping a bunch of bags on and off the shuttle is no fun.
