I'm on a partner business class award from Newark to Taipei (I paid 85K for this). Newark to LAX is with Alaska in economy and LAX to Taipei is with Starlux in business. The agent on the phone said if I search for E Fare Class that should price at 30 or 45K for a direct Newark to LAX flight, then I can call and get moved from Economy to First for the Alaska leg. The agent also said definitely call at 24 hours as well to see if there is space.

Does this all sound right? Is there an actual way to search for E Fare Class or should I just use the 30K or 45K search that the agent mentioned.
