Also an SAN based 100k. SAN-JFK is probably the hardest to get upgrades on, but it does happen. The elite ranks are kind of bloated at the moment due to the massive influx of other Deltoids and the very good status match Alaska gave them.

Otherwise my other flights (SAN to SEA, PDX, SJC, or MCO) tend to be upgraded. I'm probably at a 90% success rate. But I also choose flights based on inventory to maximize success.

We are getting a new Alaska Lounge sometime in the next year, and AS keeps adding new nonstops from SAN. It's a "focus city" in Alaska speak, one tier down from full on hub.

If you fly international, it can be kind of a pain if you don't want to fly to Heathrow, since the only real long haul on OneWorld that heads to Europe is British Airways. Myself and coworkers now pretty much head to DFW or SEA and then pick something like Finnair to avoid it. Same with west to Asia, JAL to Tokyo is pretty much the only choice. But head up to SFO or SEA and you get more. I just wish there was a OneWorld regional connection to LAX.

Overall, I am pleased between Alaska and American's choices for flights, it gets me where I need to go.
