I had a booking on Y in ANA but an F award seat on JAL just popped up.

I'm trying to decide whether to spend the 80K miles on a day time flight with a limited F experience: no good lounge at SFO, ancient seat/IFE etc. The alternative is sleeping the whole way in Y on the midnight departure (I do have a SQ F flight next up, so plenty of pampering awaits!)

Maybe I should just do this in a year or two when the A350 is more prominent, and try to go ex-Japan.

So I'm wondering if the catering ex-SFO is subpar these days compared to ex-HND (western menu), as I've read in reviews here and there? Another question: do they not serve the Salon champagne ex-USA? Finally, are they using that cheap-looking Etro amenity kit in F these days?
