Feb 29 - Mar 1 Lake Tahoe blizzard / Impact on RNO?

The national weather service has issued a blizzard warning for the Lake Tahoe area with 4-8 feet of snow predicted. https://forecast.weather.gov/showsig...1&lon=-119.968

im in Lake Tahoe now and acheduled to fly out of Reno on Saturday. We decided to leave for Reno Thursday morning because the roads are unlikely to be passable on Saturday, and in any event it’s hard to see any of the ski resorts opening Friday with that much snow in the forecast.

no weather waiver yet from united and not sure whether one will come or not. This is my first time flying out of RNO. Most forecasts are calling for maybe 4-8 inches for Reno so way lower than the Tahoe area but still significant. How normal is that kind of snowfall for Reno and should I expect to get out Saturday or try to make alternative plans? Flying RNO-SFO-SYD with a 5 hour layover in SFO.
