I noticed the same recently for a MCO-IAD flight that had been waitlisted. I was checking schedules to see if I wanted to change to a different flight, and saw mine was PZ6 PN6. I figured it would clear within 24 hours... nope. 48 hours later, still waitlisted... and still PZ & PN inventory. I removed the upgrade & reapplied, and it cleared immediately.

Very annoying as I shouldn't need to babysit. I recall the early days of switching to pmCO IT, and how agents were reluctant to force instruments to clear (but someone could just snag the upgrade from under you by applying one of their own!), and how annoying that was. Now I'm going through and checking all my itins, particularly the longhaul TPAC ones. Ugh.
