This isn't relevant. I have hooked up my Google Voice number to many services in Mainland China and the SMS works for the most part (some services only accept +86 numbers). As long as you can access the number that the SMS is being forwarded to (or have a V to access the app/website directly), it works fine.
My Didi was also under Google Voice, but this was a long time ago as I now just use a Chinese number.
I've also been using GV ever since I stopped paying for Fi ages ago, but usually only for SMS and outbound calls to US numbers. With Didi, you're presumably using data most of the time, which pretty almost always means you have a phone number as well.
