This is where the fundamentals of this thread diverge: some fail to see how it's discourteous.
(I'm more and more traveling without any carry-on luggage at all. Anything I need is stuffed in the pockets of my soft jacket which I bring to the seat.
Just like going free-agent, there's something extremely liberating about not having any luggage whatsoever!)
