This hotel would probably qualify as a mid-end Marriott in the U.S., so the fact that it could be considered a luxury property in Nagasaki tells you something about the state of hotels here. The room and bathroom design are somewhat similar to the new Fairfield Inns that are recently popping up in Japan.
The Garden Terrace Nagasaki is generally considered THE luxury hotel in the city, but other than having an interesting exterior design (by Kengo Kuma) and decent restaurants, the rooms are not luxurious and it has an awful front desk staff (same goes for its Saga property), so its luxury credentials fall short, IMO.
It looks like some Korean regular brand Marriotts and Fairfields as well.
