I cancelled the return leg of a RT flight from Europe to the US today and the CS agent said I would get a flight credit for seven hundred some-odd dollars in my account to use on a future flight. I look in my account and the flight credit is there but has no value. When trying to use it, I get an error. If I look it up, all I get is a confirmation that my flight was cancelled. I tried calling American again but the wait time is ridiculous. Is there some sort of overnight processing needed on this flight credit before I can actually see and use it? because of the fare rules on international trips that have already begun (you already flew the outbound leg), you have to call in to get the flight credit applied to a future flight. It will take some maneuvering with the fare desk to price it out correctly, but it’s not usually a problem (I just did it in a similar situation). Unfortunately if you don’t have status this will require waiting on hold for some time, but that’s the only way to ultimately use the credit.
