What you propose: land in Shanghai and leave from Beijing would only be allowed on a 24-hour TWOV, not for any of the longer ones.

Do you have a Swiss passport? It's likely that with a Swiss passport you can enter China visa-free for a max. of 15 days by August.
(They already announced this will happen, but no one knows exactly when it will go into effect.)
