Even back then it was hit or miss. About a decade ago, wife and I flew in LH F from FRA tu DXB (yes, back then still F on the route) and nothing happened until quite a bit into the flight, when she asked the crew for two glasses of champagne so that we could celebrate my birthday. Things changed from then on and we even enjoyed a bottle of Louise at the hotel courtesy of LH ...
