what's up with AirFrance and Paris
Hello friends-
This week I had a series of bad experiences with Delta. A travel team of about 10 of us were flying home on various days this week from Bangaluru to Minneapolis via Paris (Air France for the first leg). Absolutely every one of the three flights this week were impacted such that we were not able to make our connections and had to resort to other means to get home. For me on Friday, they delayed the BLR to CDG flight by three hours thereby insuring that I could not get back to the USA for another day, The normally helpful Diamond line was very disappointing. Despite me finding an option via Emirates that would get me home on the same day - they were unwilling to do that instead offering me the same flight from Paris to MSP the next day. These were business class tickets and the lady at Diamond claimed that there were no tickets in any class available on any route from BLR to MSP (AMS or CDG to ATL/DTW or anything else). It was pretty much a similar story for the other travel teams this week. I had been advocating to our company that we use SkyTeam because I erroneously thought they would take better care of us if issues happened than a different airline at which I did not have status. I was wrong - Emirates fly us home (at more expense albeit) on a very nice A380 to Dubai and a Triple & to Boston where we took a Delta flight to MSP. Adding to the Delta lack of "climbing higher" the SKyClub lady would not comp access to the nearly empty club in Boston for my two travel mates who did not have the Reserve card or status to get it (but would have gotten in to the club in CDG on the original ticket). I had to pay for them as my guests. All around an epic fail and honestly after flying Emirates for this route I think that might be a better choice for our future annual flights to BLR. Delta has likely lost a revenue stream of at least 100K per year from our team because of their lack of support in this situation. I have submitted a "compliant" but doubt they will do much. My question for my travel buddies here is what is up with Air France? I have heard something about issues with the ATC system in France causing lack of reliability. Should I avoid CDG for other trips I am planning this year?
