If you book a ticket for both of you for travel on Delta, Delta will extend some (all?) of your benefits also to those travelling with you on the same reservation. This is a Delta perk for Delta elites on Delta flights. It is not a Skyteam benefit so your companion will not benefit from your status perks when travelling on KLM (Though, of course, you can guest him into the lounge)
