The 80TP thing on some BA and OW flights is a European anomaly. Similar to the less welcome 20TPs on Spanish domestic flights. It's 40 or 140 in the US unless on paid flagship first. You'll also note the disturbing BA trend of making 140TP routes into 80TP routes, for example LHR to Cairo.
