Any ideas why?
The BAEC Calculator found on their website explains how AA flights in F are treated as Business for earning. Apologies for the lack of formating, but it shows 40 TP for that routing.

  • Business (Club World) Upgrades which earn at the Full Fare Economy (World Traveller) level.
  • AA-operated flights flown with two-cabin aircraft within the United States (including Puerto Rico and US Virgin Islands) may be branded as First but will earn miles based on business (Club World) (J, D, I, R) booking codes.

FWIW: If you were to book a 1 stop connecting flight on AA in business CLT-LAX-LAS it would earn 140+40.

I hope that helps.

Cheers,
