My dilemma is how to protect me from missing miles that may never post.
I believe that when I count the points from my transactions that haven't posted yet, I will meet my threshold.
However I had numerous times when something went wrong - fine print stuff, confusing AA rules or accounting...
So I've been thinking about how to get some insurance other than spending more $ for something I don't need. Looking for about 9k miles - some from MF.
I could buy refundable tickets, or anything refundable/returnable, which I may keep or cancel/return depending upon the points that actually post. But I believe if I cancel the refund would set me back in the next qualification period by the amount refunded. Another option is to reject points from a merchant (MF in this case - past the 30 days to cancel) that offers a once per account offer and then apply for the same offer in March to benefit from it in the next period - of course I would need to earn the points expected from MF by 2/29. Has anyone ever done this?
Any advice?
