I had no problem applying the SUA. The reservation showed the room type I booked until the day before when it was updated to a suite. However, when I checked a few hours before check in, it was showing an upgraded non suite room. The person at check in told me that SUA couldn’t be applied to an Amex booking so it was rejected. Take that with a grain of salt.

I was a bit nervous since the hotel was no longer showing suite availability but he was able to put me back in one.

Update: Got my points for the spend and EQN for the stay.
