A key part of the problem, my impression, is that there is no real master plan for the airport. It's as if AA or DL demands a gate tomorrow and CLT throws some random extension, stinger terminal, etc to make it happen. The result is the current mess. How did we even get to where we are today from 5 years ago? Did anyone actually have a plan? Then they also spend money on cosmetic refurbishments to switch to the ugliest wayfinding design imaginable.
