The advice is much, much appreciated.
There were no changes of names or personal information. All leftover credits, confirmation #'s/tixs under my RR # belongs to me and are used only by me.
But, next time, I'll do the following:
1. carry confirmation #'s with me
2. if I need to call and the person wasn't that helpful, hang up and call back
3. if needed, ask for a supervisor
4. if all that fails, head to the airport for assistance the next day
5. if all the aforemention doesn't work/fail, I guess I have to look for a Greyhound bus or an Amtrak train
