It's not so much the mood of the agent as the mood of the system.

I've personally witnessed the system say yes and no in virtually identical scenarios. No status, paid J through fare, connecting from Signature to a single cabin aircraft.

I think this is one of those scenarios where the following three things are different:
1. What AC wants
2. What AC says
3. What AC does
