My brother in law - who works for the australian military - will not even visit HK let along bring a device. He even gets nervous when I (who live in HK) connects to his home wifi when we visit. I used to think he was paranoid, but recently with all the security law awfulness, I think anyone in a sensitive profession (journalists in particular) need to be careful. What exactly that means, I am not sure. A friend of mine uses a VPN at ALL times for example. I certainly don't let anyone else look at my phone or leave it in hotel rooms.
