Hello,

I want to joke and say that if you want to loose time, fly to Heathrow; If you want to loose your luggage, fly to Schiphol; and if you want to loose your mind, fly to CDG.

But being honest, while you might read bad reviews, most of the time you will be fine and have no problems at these airports. (I do find AMS the easiest for immigration early morning).

An ideal itinerary would be for example to fly from Detroit to Amsterdam on Delta and return from Paris or London. (Just be aware that the taxes will be slightly higher from LHR than CDG or AMS). (The lowest I can see around that time is 68k miles + 300£ for LHR - DTW)

- From Detroit to AMS there’s 3 flights per day, all delta. DL132, DL134 and DL136.

- To LHR there’s only one flight : DL16.

- To CDG there’s two: DL98 and Air France AF377.

(All Delta operated flights by A330s are a great choice for couple travelling in economy with the 2 - 4 - 2 config. If you can get an extra legroom row, even better.)

So in terms of choice for direct flights to these three destinations you basically have Delta or Air France. If you’re flying economy, I think the products are almost equal in terms of comfort.

AF will fly an A350 to DTW in September and that’s a 3 - 3 - 3 config, maybe less ideal in the back. The legroom is also larger on DL A330s at 32” compared to 31” on AF A350.

For your intra-European journeys, I recommend EUROSTAR to avoid loosing time at airports. (Update: *Note that there’s no Eurostar from Amsterdam to London in September, only to Paris.) You can easily travel from stations located in the three city centres and walk easily to/from public transportation or your hotel.

Eurostar has a great network, especially for these destinations. You might even add Brussels to your trip !

Enjoy your flights !
