The last time I was in Paris I did my laundry as I normally do in a "laverie" with the coin operated machines. It was around closing time and I had a nice conversation with the owner "in French" about his life, his store, Paris, etc. Was fun, and was a part of my visiting Paris and not having to lug too much around with me.
The funny thing was his shop was right near a concert hall and he was doing laundry for an aging British rockstar. He was not working directly with the show, but with a friend of his who had a friend who worked at the stadium. YOu can imagine what the final charge was for Paul.
Meanwhile I paid my 4-5 euros to wash and dry of all my clothes and laughed all the way to the bank (left bank that is).
