Is SFO-MUC-MLA not an option, or are you looking at awards with limited availability?

Malta is in Schengen. At FRA you would go through immigration and perhaps security (shouldn’t be needed, but I never know/trust what weird setup FRA on any given day has). One hour would make me nervous. If you get a jet bridge, you’ll be off the plane quickly from the J cabin, but if you get a bus gate, you will get the grand tour of Fraport and your bus won’t leave until they have crammed as many people tightly in so that no one can fall over as the bus goes around curves.
