Never worked for me but as the check-in machines work fine if with only hand luggage it’s not been too big of an issue. You didn’t try to access immigration/security with the mobile BP?
Maybe regulations changed, BKK was always a "pick up your boarding pass" airport for me, no matter what airline, no matter what class of service. My last flight out was in Nov. with AY, needed to pick up the BP.
