Mostly irrelevant for me - I managed to squeak in with just above 200,000 MQMs to extend DM for 2 years...so my options are 22 MQDs or 109 RDMs
It is definitely irrelevant for 2 MMs. One of the questions I had which is now answered and confirmed after 2/1 was whether or not the 2 MMs got the Platinum CBs. They do. I have not yet earned the MQDs to be Platinum for 2024, but I already have the choice available to me to choose the 24 Plat. CBs. So if you are 2 MM, and extend Diamond for however many years, you will be covered on the Plat and Diamond CBs for the period of your extension.
