I guess I'll just take a smaller bag and try to cram everything into it then and forget the rollaboard altogether.
I'm used to AY & TK not bothering about elite pax' carry-ons, and now that I'm trying to move away from AY as they keep getting worse and worse in so many ways, it proves to be quite difficult with all these hoops one has to jump through as a statusless nobody on an unfamiliar airline. I'll only be away for four nights, so the rollaboard is not a must, but this also means that I can't really consider AF for future trips where I might need to have it with me. Too risky.
Like others, I strongly advise you to always have both a light handbag for personal items and a rollaboard. Most airlines accept that. AF will ask that you can store your personal item bag under the seat in front of you.
If the rollover is just 1cm wider than the norm, you should have no problems with size. I doubt that AF ever weigh cabin bags, except when you check bags at their counter.
If the plane is very full, AF will ask, at the gate, for volunteers to check their cabin bags and board first.. That would usually be enough.
At HEL, you can argue that you have a connecting flight.
