And upgrades aren't important to me. At all.
Just because you don't like them doesn't make them useless. Some of us prefer to be able to go straight to our room and not have to stop at the front desk. Or not have to keep track of yet another thing (keycard) when I pretty much carry my phone everywhere. I doubt physical key cards are ever going away (or if so, not anytime soon). That doesn't mean a functional app/digital key isn't a good thing for those that want to use it.
