JAL fly-on program: Is it worth it?

Sorry in advance that this post might be quite a rant...
First I want to say that I am a huge fan of JAL: The top class service in any class (Y,J,F), the high reliability, I can go on and on... Flew a lot with them mostly US to Japan/Asia last year so currently JGC premier. Basically my favourite airline by far.
The question is: It is worth at all to try to clock JAL FOPs (to 80,000) to maintain OWE through JMB? This currently seems very difficult because of JAL's extremely stingy accumulation rates on their fares, which I cannot understand:
  • JAL economy class between US east coast and Japan are extremely expensive (USD 2000-3000 roundtrip). This compares to USD 1000-1200 for the cheapest option (non-JAL). I'm trying hard to justify the JAL premium and just bite the bullet and pay twice for JAL, but another slap on the face comes when you see the booking class is N,O (30%) or sometimes S (50%)
  • JAL business class on the same routes can have exorbitant prices, but for those with "reasonable" round trip fares of approx USD 5000-6000 (still a lot higher than the cheapest business class tickets on the same route), they book into class X (70%)
I'm just quite appalled that the generally higher than market airfares all come with such a low mileage/FOP accumulation rate. Is this normal? With these accumulation rates it seems impossible to get to 80,000 without throwing out huge amounts of cash. Compared to other OW airlines (AA, BA, AS), you can achieve OWE with much less spend. Also, AA for example "helps" you maintain your status because your status bonus counts towards qualification, which is a good motivation to keep going with their status program.
No idea if JAL is going to do a double FOP campaign this year, but without that, it seems like the FOP program is completely uncompetitive compared to the other OW programs.
WIth JGC, crystal and sapphire tiers of the FOP program seem rather pointless, but getting to Premier is impossible (for me) at their current accumulation rates. Thinking of switching to AA/AS programs if trying to go for OWE. I'm not super experienced like most FT'ers in playing the points game so let me know if I'm missing something here, or if there are reasonable ways to get to 80,000 FOPs
