A gorgeous quiet but luxe side of Ibiza, with lots of personality

Introduction I returned to Ibiza for a week in September 2023, and having visited SS Ibiza twice previously, I thought that this time around, I would stay for a night to see what I thought. My pre-arrival was all sorted by my lovely contact at the property, and my preferences requested and noted in the usual Six Senses way (these ended up being reflected in room too, which was great). Check In The arrival to the property is always quite cool, driving up the hill and then down into the resort. Excellent valet who cleaned my screen, left water and were super fast. Check-in was slick. Offered a cool drink or a healthy smoothie if I wanted one, plus cold towels. I was early but they managed to find a room for me, and I only waited for maybe 20 minutes. Excellent. Room I stayed in a Junior Suite, to the right hand side of the main pool, as you look down into the resort. I have seen all of the various room types at the property, and whilst I prefer the Sea View Deluxe / Premium personally, for this short one night stay alone, I didn't mind as I was hardly going to be in the room.Room itself was perfect. Everything worked, everything was spotless, bed was amazing, everything all present and correct as you'd expect. I actually had a side/lateral view of the sea over the pool, so I was quite happy out on the terrace. It's important to know what you're doing booking this hotel if you want a certain view / location. Ask me and I have all the intel. Service Having visited before (and had clients there) I have some good contacts at the hotel, so I know it's always quite a chilled but friendly level of service. Think minimal but warm. Zen almost, but in a good way. They're there if you need them, but not in your face at all. Which on Ibiza I like, as sometimes you just want to be chilled. Breakfast service was especially good and very warm from the servers, welcoming me and wishing me good morning. I didn't see room service as just stayed for the one night. Front desk and valet service was also exellent. Spa I didn't see as I wasn't there long enough, but feedback is good. Dining I dined on my only night at the hotel at The Orchard, the italian grigliata overlooking the pool and gardens. It was excellent. I had one of the best minute steaks I've had in a long time - perfectly cooked with a wonderful chimichurri accompaniment, perfect salad and fries. Faultless.Breakfast the next morning was amazing. Honestly, I just love a Six Senses breakfast. For me the variety and health options are unsurpassed. I mean wheatgrass shots on Ibiza are just inspired. Wonderful eggs with a pistachio gremolata - wow. Who knew. Everything was faultless. I especially love the Ibizan honey and figs. Dreamy. Pool The pool here is gorgeous, but be aware it's VERY cold! It's not heated, so on a cooler day it can be a tad brisk. But on a hot day, it's heaven. Location For me the best part of the experience of SS Ibiza is the location. Located in the far north of the island, just down from Portinatx, at Cala Xuclar. Quiet, sea views, a quite cove, it's just heaven. There is no beach with the hotel, but swimming is possible on a calm sea from the rocks, and the hotel has a ladder into the sea. Beaches are closeby and transfers can be arranged. Overall It was wonderful to stay at this property at last, and I was absolutely not disappointed. I've had a number of very happy clients staying in recent years, and I can understand why now. This is a special and unique resort on Ibiza. There's nothing like it here, and absolutely no competition really. What Nobu and 7 Pines offer elsewhere is something fundamentally different.
