Not quite. There are some "low-cost" (to the airline) carriers, that don't feed you at all and just provide water.
The big four (CA, MU, CZ) provide meals at (Chinese) meal times on flights longer than 2? hours. Otherwise it's a snack box.
They all stop service 40 mins before landing, so on very short flights don't expect a hot meal in Y. Also don't expect a meal on flights after 8PM - it'll be either a snackbox or just drinks.
Long-haul - yes they'll feed you twice and they usually have a Western and a Chinese option. The food quality is reasonable.
