That said, I was expecting better from the reviews here and won’t ever be staying again. I saved ~$60 vs the very nice 50 Bowery because I went to see the ice hockey. I stay at Hyatt Place a lot, but rarely in the US - so I’m curious as to how much of my review is specific or generic.

I’m quite critical of US hotels which for reasons I don’t understand don’t have a proper duvet cover, but I’ve never come across a place like this which has a sheet, a thin (and presumably unwashed duvet) and then a blanket on top. In a dirty city like New York in particular with all of its issues with bedbugs and bacteria, I do not enjoy having my face at night up against something someone else has slept on.

I also didn’t appreciate being directly opposite the elevator (maybe 3-4 feet away) and with one of those US-hotel type doors which has enough open space that someone outside could if they wanted watch everything going on inside the room. It meant that every time the elevator came to the floor I could follow everything that was going on. The only reason that it didn’t wake me up every time was that the aircon/ heating sounded like a foghorn and as far as I could tell was centrally controlled at 68 and so the room was a few degrees uncomfortably hot for my taste.

I received fair value for money, but would not ever return.
The Greyson would probably have been better than this place. Not sure price wise and just 5 mins further of a walk from MSG.
