Fridge fee? That's because you were at a hotsy totsy hotel. Don't you know the higher you climb the less you get included?
But reading these posts I think it's very knee jerk to say "I'm never staying at Hilton again because of the credit". First of all, lest we need to be reminded, the "old" Hilton breakfast for elites was always continental. This way you have the option of upping to something more substantial if you so choose. But no one is forcing you to. There is usually some sort of "continental basket including coffee and fruit/juice" on every menu. If you want something more that's your choice.
So I don't have a problem with the credit per se, but I do with the execution and especially the ridiculous "no breakfast on date of departure". But with some (unnecessary) nasty pushback you can get it straightened out.
Our other chain of choice is Marriott and as a Gold you get NOTHING...no breakfast, no waived resort fees on points stays, so I'm pretty happy with what Hilton does give.
