Hard to say. In another forum, some people reported problems with shortened names on credit cards with another airline program, which hadn't happened much before at that airline. It's unknown whether it was the airline or the credit card program that caused the card to be denied because of the name mismatch between the boarding pass and the credit card.
Thanks for responding, I never thought about that part of it as in boarding pass and the name on a credit card, it’s not uncommon for you to use your credit card and buy a ticket for a spouse so I can’t see how that could be an issue but maybe.
