I've always been a fan of the Polaris hard product. The objection that most on FT have to it, IMO, is that UA's soft product does not match. For those of us that got to experience the full dessert cart, the wine flights, the multiple midflight snack options....it is safe to say that this is the area where Polaris has fallen off substantially. That said - and I have to think my hunch is right, as it is logical - is that most paid J flyers are doing so because of program loyalty, their company forces them to fly with a certain carrier, etc. At the end of the day, what somebody serves you on NYC-LHR on a redeye is kind of irrelevant because you are going to be sleeping as much as you can once you get on the plane.
