I tried Flighty this week, after discovering it in this forum.
The user interface is exceptionally well designed, and it is rich in cool features. However, I think the pricing strategy is wrong.
It might offer good value for domestic US travellers who are often squeezed into chaotic situations where flights are cancelled around them, but for those of us who travel the rest of the world, it is hard to justify the annual fee in terms of the value it brings. Nor is it as accurate as the price would demand, in some airports.
I do think software developers need to be fairly compensated, and we should pay appropriately - but also prices need to reflect value.
That’s not an entirely fair assessment. You’re not only paying the devs for their work, but supporting their ability to purchase the real-time flight data from their data vendors. Part of the problems with European airlines is that some data isn’t reported shortly before the flight which would hamper Flighty’s advanced features somewhat. That being said, I’m traveling right now, and every update I get comes from flighty first before the airlines app does. Flying Lufthansa.
