How would you feel if the swap were done on just the return trip? When I've swapped seats with my wife it's because she either met up with me or or flew in economy on the outbound leg while I was upfront.
I couldn't care less...I treat people like the are fully functional adults capable of making the right decisions for themselves. If the right thing for her is to switch seats then that's what she should do, recognizing her downstream responsibilities be they on the way there, way back, or somewhere in between.
It never ceases to amaze me now a simple tactical question can turn into an ethical or legal discussion with all of the arm-chair lawyers and ethicists that like to hang out here.
