If this is truly about preventing fraudulent access to the clubs, then every club should be enforcing ID checks on all arriving guests. But clearly that is not the case in practice.
The most likely explanations in my mind are inconsistent or incomplete messaging to front line club staff, or lack of oversight of said staff who then make it up as they go. Either way it reflects badly on AA management.

To me it's no big deal; a lot of other bigger things need fixing at AA more than fixing this inconsistency, IMHO
yes i realize not mutually exclusive. They could fix "all of the above" but this is AA we're talking about.
I just find other things are worth more energy than this.
