Here's my Lufthansa EC261/2004 data point:
On November 11, 2023, I arrived at FRA airport to make a connection to LH328 to get to my final destination of Venice, Italy (VCE.) When I took my phone out of airplane mode, I received a text that to "present your boarding pass and you will receive food and beverages for 10 EUR" at select outlets. My flight was posted as delayed 2 hours 50 minutes. We actually blocked in over 3 hours late but I think LH doesn't like to advertise that ahead of time based on the EC261 compensation. On December 9th, I requested compensation for my delay based on EC261/2004 via their website and received an automatic reply with a Feedback ID (FB ID.) I had sent them a screenshot of my United Airlines receipt and of the delay that I saw on the Lufthansa app.
I didn't receive any response for about two months so I sent a reminder question to Lufthansa via their portal asking them for an update. On February 6th, I received an email saying that "We are happy to confirm, pursuant to Regulation (EC) No. 261/2004. Kindly provide our service team with your bank details. I was given the option to simply reply to the email or visit their secure HTTPS:// site to enter the details. Although a bit leery, I entered the details on their secure site for a near dormant bank account with about $13 in it figuring that I was fairly safe.
On February 8th, (two days after I received an approval email) I received an email from the same person that sent the previous email stating "Please send us your booking confirmation, passenger receipt or boarding pass. We will compare these with the flight related booking details. This is to ensure proper verification of you identity and to guarantee that the payment is received by you alone, and not by unauthorized third parties."
I responded to this email with a copy of my receipt which was previously sent, a picture of my original boarding pass, a screenshot of the flight status which showed a final block in time in excess of 3 hours, a screenshot of the text offering me EUR 10 meal compensation, a screenshot of the places that the link in their text that I could use the EUR 10 compensation, and even advised them that I had a slice of apfelstrudel and a smoothie paid for by the vendor scanning my boarding pass. I also sent a screenshot of my United Airlines Mileage Plus account which showed that Lufthansa had credited me miles for flying on that delayed Lufthansa flight. Unfortunately, the Lufthansa app doesn't retain any flight information past 48 hours, so my evidence didn't include a screenshot of my final seat assignment as I changed it before boarding.
On February 16th, I received a deposit of USD 316.73 to my bank account which appears to be EUR 300 at a bad exchange rate. I believed that I was entitled to only EUR 250, so this is a bonus win.
So, I received my compensation from Lufthansa 69 days after I initially requested compensation via their website.
A few things that I learned along the way is that I wished I had done a screenshot of my Lufthansa boarding pass. Thankfully, I had printed up my original boarding pass when I checked in on the United website but I thought that this could give me a problem. Another thing that may have helped me is that I replied to the email which was from Lufthansa Customer Relations but signed by an actual employee. I hit the reply button but then added the employee in the CC field since I know that their email protocol is
[email protected] and think that it helped with an expedited reply.
Best of luck to fellow travelers that need to contact LH regarding compensation and I hope my data point helps!
