There is no question that the old CW set-up is obsolete. I have had both highly agreeable people sit opposite. Clearly from all their in-flight "toys" as I call them, they were expecting to watch films, listen to music or whatever. Because the screens have to be down for departure - sometimes conversation just starts as in any situation where people are seated close to one another. I would say that 75% of the times it has led to enjoying drinks and lunch/dinner. I watch for signs of people being well-mannered and who would far rather sit in peace and quiet.

I totally comprehend that there are people who abhor human contact and just want to be left alone. If they just raise the blind - that's absolutely fine. I've had my share of people chewing gum in my face in which case I take action.

I have no problem with the A380. It is quiet and usually smooth. I like the A350 even better. The only problem with the A380 to me is its rather unreliable nature. Was it this bad before Covid does anyone remember?
