I'll be considerate and not leave the shade open if there's direct sunlight coming in, but it isn't reasonable to expect the window seat passenger to never open the shade. Plenty of people want to see the scenery, or need to see the outside to mitigate motion sickness. (In fact, I'd suggest that someone's need to not get sick outweighs someone else's desire to watch the screen.)
So then riddle me this. Why can't a kid watch a movie or play a game on a tablet without headphones during the flight? I mean you can wear earplugs or put on a headset/earphones if you don't want to listen.

Sure it's one thing to crack a window to look outside for a brief moment. But for any extended period, it will be disruptive.
