If watching the camera on the IFE is the same thing, then why not just watch videos on YouTube and not be flying at all?

​​​​​I'll be considerate and not leave the shade open if there's direct sunlight coming in, but it isn't reasonable to expect the window seat passenger to never open the shade. Plenty of people want to see the scenery, or need to see the outside to mitigate motion sickness. (In fact, I'd suggest that someone's need to not get sick outweighs someone else's desire to watch the screen.)
