I guess I'm going to do what you guys say, check-in anyway, and argue to the death I'm not paying that as my emails all clearly show the totals don't include that fee.

With that said, is there any hard information from Marriott in the T&C's or on the site anywhere I can point to saying it must be disclosed at time of booking?
