That's a false equivalency. This isn't *G lounge access, it's a lounge pass.

AC codeshares with many airlines. Some of them aren't in *A. Buying an AC codeshare on EI or 9M doesn't make you eligible for lounge access either.

The lounges are crowded enough as it is and the current policy of only allowing access when flying AC metal is the simplest requirement.

They're also given out to certain credit card holders.
