The reason LY encourages doing security at the check in counters is to reduce congestion at the gate but this is by no means a requirement.
I was not allowed to transfer ( two separate tickets) at CDG without a security sticker from the LY security and had to exit airside and go through to the check in for LY. On rare occasion at LCA the transit gate has been open, I have had the same experience.YMMV but do not assert "None of the above is true."
