It's not really a secret that a hotel's inventory is not and will never be fully transparent. Rooms/types can be excluded, and the hotel can also do things other things to further restrict your ability to access certain types/locations/etc.

HH auto upgrades are still happening. Nothing has changed.

Believe me, app check in doesn't make anything harder. That's just an excuse.
